Flanagan Joins Invitation-Only Panel of Media Experts at Montclair State University.
Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2009, the New Jersey Advertising Club convened at Montclair State University to discuss the New Jersey brand, the ad industry in NJ, and definition of NJ as a market.

The conversation was moderated by Steve Adubato, Ph.D. and noted NJ TV anchor, legislator, broadcaster, author, and university professor. In addition to Wendy Flanagan, Co-President of Murray, other panelists included Bob Lettiere of Block & DeCorso, John Leonardi of Brushfire, Gerry Allen of CBS Outdoor, Jason Rand of HarrisonRand, Dennis Wilson of Monmouth Medical Center, Paul Rotella of NJ Broadcasters Association, Catherine Merchant-Jones of Prudential, John Lonsdorf of R&J Public Relations, Mark Albin of the Newark Museum, Robert Provost of The Star Ledger, Bryce Rudolph of Winning Strategies, and A.J. Khubani of TELEbrands.

Flanagan represented perspectives from online and social media marketing - the purchase of which is forced into similar restrictions as media buy in other more traditional media, where you are forced to buy NY metro or Phili metro bundles in order to cover your New Jersey audience.

In fact, New Jersey represents the 5th largest buying market in the USA, and those numbers are skewed because of the designation of NY metro and Phili metro in calculations that actually attribute audience share to large cities instead of the wealth of the state. In 2008, the top 25 advertising and top 25 PR firms when taken in aggregate drove over $1.5 billion in 'top line' fees and billing through the economy of the state.

This first ever NJ Advertising Roundtable discussion offered strategic discussion to the NJ brand and the commitment of attendees and panelists to a collaborative view of NJ marketing and advertising.
