Powerful search & sort saves time to market.

Challenge.
ADP National Accounts Services needed to get current information to their sales & marketing
representatives in a way that was meaningful and up-to-date. Associates had to be able to locate
documents quickly – to capitalize on sales opportunities across products, sales operations, and
vertical markets. Competition is fierce in the business services arena, and National Accounts Services
needed the finest search and sort capabilities to leverage ADP’s country-wide corporate resources –
on-the-fly and at a moment’s notice.
Action.
Murray recommended the Ektron CMS (Content Management Solution) for ADP’s National Accounts
Services Intranet. The solution offered robust application development and configuration in a
stable Microsoft .NET environment, plus the capability of fast implementation. Murray creative and
development teams pushed the envelope for ADP in the search functionality: using both a Google
Mini Appliance that indexes document content and writes a description; and the Ektron CMS-based
search which looks at the user-entered title, description, category assignments and keywords. Our
custom code expedited permissions across tiers by products, sales process stage, verticals, departments,
manager/associate level, collateral type and competition.

Results.
This system is all about speed: from start to finish, the system was built and operational in less than
six months to accommodate robust searching and sorting by various types of users. It allows cross
functional and cross-departmental ‘shortcuts’ to post and review content. Document thumbnails and
preview screens are automatically generated when posted by the administrative users; and easy to see
by end-users when searching for the right document. ADP NAS now has a lightning-fast, coast-to-coast
distribution system for corporate literature and documents. And, they can track competitor activity
and positioning at a local level for strategic counter-intelligence on a national scale.
